The Problem
Second-Generation Anti-Coagulant Rodenticides (SGARs)
SGARs are used by pest control professionals to target mice and rats. These toxins don’t just kill rodents, but they poison the entire food chain.
A rodent can live for several days after ingesting SGARs. When a predator eats a poisoned rodent, SGARs pass into its bloodstream. This “secondary poisoning” causes raptors to develop serious internal bleeding, leading to illness or death.
