Stop the use of first and second-generation anti-coagulant rodenticides
URGENT Action to Protect Wildlife 🚨
Speak up today: https://bit.ly/sgarvote
Tomorrow, the House of Representatives is taking up the Mass Ready Act, and Amendment #10 would phase out the use of anticoagulant rodenticides statewide.
Across Massachusetts, thousands of beloved pets and wildlife including owls, hawks, and foxes are being poisoned by these toxic rodenticides. And many die after suffering prolonged, painful deaths from ingesting rodenticides through contaminated prey.
Make your voice heard!
Contact your representatives today and urge them to support this amendment. We need them to hear from as many supporters as possible before they vote on June 17.
IMPORTANT NEED TO REACH OUT IN SUPPORT OF KZ, A BEAUTIFUL BALD EAGLE
| From Mass Audubon: TODAY’S ACTION Honor KZ, a bald eagle father, that has lost 2 mates in the last 3 years. PLEASE print & mail this Father’s Day card to your MA State Senator and Representative:https://bit.ly/MakeKZsDay KZ is a bald eagle father that lives in Middlesex County. KZ has lost two mates (MK and FAE) in 3 years from anticoagulant rodenticides. He also lost an eaglet due to anticoagulant rodenticide a couple years before that. We need policy change. This card highlights Bald Eagle Day (June 20) and Father’s Day (June 21) to make an appeal to our legislators. This is a time to say: no more preventable deaths, no more poisoned parents, and no more empty nests. This is a time to say “Please support legislation to end anticoagulant rodenticide use and protect the families — human and wild — who depend on you”. Note: this printable card is formatted for 8.5 x 11 double sided. It has a place to sign your name. Please print the card, sign it, and send a hard copy to your state Rep and Senator. Find your legislator’s addresses: https://malegislature.gov/Search/FindMyLegislator. Let’s make KZ’s day! Photo credit: Jim Joyce. Thanks to Marci at Save Lexington Wildlife and Joanne at Lowell Loves Wildlife for creating this card. HEADS UP You may here from me again tomorrow, as it’s likely that the MA House of Representatives will take up the Mass Ready Act. As soon as they do, Rep. Hawkins is planning to file an amendment to the bill for a statewide ban on anticoagulant rodenticides. I will be sharing a link to a quick action with a pre-written email to your Representative to cosponsor the amendment and to vote for it. Please take the action yourself, but also PLEASE share it widely!! Together we have power. Let’s use it to advocate for a ban on anticoagulant rodent poisons across Massachusetts! |

The Problem
Second-Generation Anti-Coagulant Rodenticides (SGARs)
SGARs are used by pest control professionals to target mice and rats. These toxins don’t just kill rodents, but they poison the entire food chain.
A rodent can live for several days after ingesting SGARs. When a predator eats a poisoned rodent, SGARs pass into its bloodstream. This “secondary poisoning” causes raptors to develop serious internal bleeding, leading to illness or death.
