Do you live in Brookline? If yes, we need your help. Please contact your Town Meeting Members before November 19, and ask them as a constituent, to please support WA18, Home Rule Petition. Here is some information that you may want to include. Please make your message your own, so your TMM will pay attention. Scroll down to the list of Town Meeting Members by precinct with contact information and a map to find your precinct. Any questions, please email us.
Important Information you should consider including:
1. Your name and precinct*
2. You are writing as a constituent*
3. You are asking them to support WA18 Home Rule Petition*
4. Let them know you are concerned about the birds, wildlife, pets and humans who are being exposed to this dangerous poison, Second Generation Anticoagulant Rodenticides, known as SGARs
5. Tell them that owls can eat between 1,500-2,000 rodents annually, hawks eat 1,000, foxes 1,800;, we need our natural predators healthy to keep the rodent population in check
6. Tell them there are many safer successful ways to manage rats
7. Tell them you understand that the town already has restricted SGAR use on public land; this would give the town the authority to restrict SGARs on private land as well.
8. Tell them the Mass Audubon, Sierra Club, Brookline Bird Club, MSPCA/Angel, Friends of Brookline Raptors, Charles River Water Shed are all supporting this Warrant Article.
9. Tell them that the Select Board and Advisory Committee both unanimously supported WA18

Dear Precinct ____ Town Meeting Member,
My name is _________________, I live in Precinct _____. I am writing as your constituent asking that you support Warrant Article 18 Home Rule Petition. I am deeply concerned about the negative impact of SGARs on our environment, wildlife, pets and people. We in Brookline can do better. Please vote yes on Warrant Article 18 Home Rule Petition.

- Learn how Second Generation Anticoagulant Rodenticides (SGARs) are killing wild-life, pets and Raptors, including hawks, owls and eagles.
- Learn about alternative, more effective ways to manage the rat and rodent population, while saving their natural predators.
- Learn how hawks and other raptors can eat 1,000 rats a year.
- Learn about the warrant article that has been submitted to town
meeting.
